Priorities
- Support model developments (chemistry mechanisms, processes, emissions) for CAM7-chem Workhorse model in collaboration with other working groups with focus on chemistry and aerosols
- Participation in model intercomparison projects (MIPs)
- Development of regional refined configurations for CAM-chem through the MUSICA framework
- Support and analysis of Aircraft campaigns (e.g., ATom, KORUS-AQ, SOAS, NOMADSS, SEAC4RS, ASIA-AQ)
- Improve OH representation by including VSL and methane emissions
- Development of chemical forecasting capabilities and data assimilation
- 10-day Global 1 degree Spectral Element (CSLAM) dynamical core
- 3-day Global 1/4 degree Spectral Element (CSLAM) dynamical core
- CMIP7 Tier 1 and Tier 2 developments and model simulations
- Tier 1 Workhorse mid-top model with T4S chemistry
- Tier 2 Workhorse mid-top model with T5S chemistry (T1S with VSL) and interactive methane + TUV-X
- Test interactive fire model with T4S for CMIP7 and T5S for HTAP3-Fires
- Improve aerosol representation and chemistry and radiative forcing
- New nitrate aerosol implementation
- Heterogeneous uptake on sea salt and dust
- Solid aerosols for stratospheric aerosol injections (alumina, calcite, diamond)

- The role of interactive fires in the earth system
- Importance of an improved scalability of lightning parameterizations with changing scales
- Couplings between atmosphere and other components (land and ocean) - e.g. investigating nitrogen cycle
- Changes in atmosphere composition in a changing world
- Role of interactive carbon cycle (emissions-based CO2 and CH4)
- Role of pollen for health and the earth system
