16th Annual CESM Workshop: Announcement

NCAR's Climate and Global Dynamics Division is pleased to announce its 16th Annual CESM Workshop being held at The Village at Breckenridge from 20 - 23 June 2011. This year's workshop will be a combination of plenary presentations, special interest presentations by the CESM working groups, and a poster session for participants to highlight their work. Poster Session

There will be a poster session once again this year. Please check the agenda and be available during that time for comments and questions regarding your poster. Posters will be available for viewing for the remainder of the workshop. Posters must fit in a 4' x 4' space. You may mount your poster with push pins that will be provided. You will have an opportunity to enter your title and authors in the on-line registration.

Travel Assistance

We have a limited number of funds to assist those who would not otherwise be able to attend the workshop. This usually includes ground transportation and lodging. Please request travel assistance in the on-line registration by registering in Phase I that opens on 28 March 2011. Those who have requested travel assistance will be notified of their status by the first of May.

Location

The town of Breckenridge has a lot to offer - a beautiful mountain setting, variety of restaurants, shopping, golf, hiking, 4-wheeling, horseback riding, kayaking, hot air balloon rides, and several spas, to name just some of the highlights. We think you'll enjoy your free time.

The workshop will be held at The Village at Breckenridge. The majority of our sessions will be held in the Liftside Inn Building. Final locations will be available on the agenda closer to meeting time.

Lodging and Ground Transportation

Most participants will fly into Denver International Airport on 6/20/11 and fly out on 6/23/11.

Please let us know asap about cancellations. Registration fees will not be refunded after May 27, 2011.

Miscellaneous

We are not able to provide interpreters for international participants. Some participants may wish to bring their families along. We will do our best to accommodate these requests. Any special needs may also be indicated during the registration process.

The Community Earth System Model (CESM) is a fully-coupled, global climate model that provides state-of-the-art computer simulations of the Earth's past, present, and future climate states.

CESM is sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Administration of the CESM is maintained by the Climate and Global Dynamics Division (CGD) at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR).
